What Is In a Name?

MayahuEl is the Azteca goddess of the MaguEy and fertility.  I chose this naME because not only is MayahuEl the goddess of my actual birthdate, but it eMbodiEs ME in both a musing and MEaningful way.

It is musing in that the MaguEy plant produces the aguaMiEl (honeywater) known as pulque, which is a MExican alcoholic beverage.  Now, to know ME is to love ME.  And those who know ME, know that I love a good drink.  I can't help it, it (alcohol) is saturated into my MExican-AMErican blood, and MorE specifically, the Ortega apellido (family naME).  I coME from a long line of alcoholics and party-goers.  It is a label I take very seriously!  At one tiME in my vida (life), I could out-drink any grown man.  A badge I wear, or rather, wore proudly...  It's been awhile since I have atteMptEd that feat, not sure if I can still wear that badge--but I would definitely try it again, if presented with the challenge!

It is MEaningful that the goddess of fertility rules my birthdate, because although I am currently childless, I believe that my soul is a MothEring one.  Once a woman becoMEs with child, I believe that her soul instantly falls in love with that child--from the tiME of conception.  And whatever becoMEs of that child, her MothEr is foreverMorE connected to that love and spirit.  I have always known that I am destined to be a MothEr (either in this life or the next).  And my love for my child spirit has led ME to becoME a MaEstra (teacher).

  1. I'm so happy that you took that step! Your words are far too insightful to NOT be shared with the world. This is the year of YOU!
Keep those musings and meanings coming, they're beautifully constructed, and I especially like the way you emphasize ME!
    Well done!!
